FAQ
What kind of cleaning solution do you use?
We use a biodegradable, pH neutral, quaternary ammonium solution that removes stains from mold, algae, mildew, lichens and air pollutants. It is effective on marble, granite, limestone, brownstone, travertine, masonry, terra cotta, concrete, stucco, wood, and other architectural surfaces including monuments, sculpture and headstones. It is the same solution that is used to clean the monuments at Arlington National Cemetery.
How do you clean the monument?
Very carefully. There are several different types of stone that are used for monuments and each of these types of stone are treated differently. Other than the cleaning solution and distilled water, soft nylon bristled brushes are used to agitate the surface, helping to remove the pollutants found on the monument. Instead of using a pressure washer, good old-fashioned elbow grease is used to wash and clean your loved one's monument. A pressure washer can damage the monument.
Will the polish or sealer stain the monument?
No. Both the polish and sealer are pH neutral products. Harmful chemicals will never be used on your loved one's monument. The polish will leave your granite or marble monument with a brilliant shine while also providing added protection from outside pollutants. The sealer will help seal your more porous stones, helping keep your monument clean longer.
How long will my loved one's monument remain clean?
This is difficult to answer because there are several factors that determine the cleanliness of your loved one's monument. For instance, a monument that is in an area of a cemetery that is in proximity to trees and shrubbery and that is in a place that doesn't get much sunlight will have more lichen, algae and moss on it than a monument that is in a more open area of the cemetery away from trees and shrubbery does. The cleaning solution will continue to penetrate the stone even after the cleaning and the polish/sealer will also help aid in keeping the monument clean.
How often should I have my loved one's monument cleaned?
This answers differs between each individual person. A general rule of thumb is this: The longer between cleanings, the dirtier the monument will be. Though the previous statement seems to state the obvious, the more often you have your loved one's monument cleaned, the longer it will stay clean.

Do you use bleach or some kind of acid to clean monuments?
No! Bleach, acid nor any other kind of harmful chemicals are used to clean monuments.

Why Clean Gravestones and Monuments?
Even though most gravestones and monuments are created with durable stone or metal, they should still receive proper care to pay respect to loved ones for many years to come. In addition the monument represents a loved one. By cleaning the monument, family and friends feel that their loved one is being taken care of.
Not only does it make the gravestones and monument look better, it will protect the stone from cracking, chipping or staining.
There are a several reasons why people should clean their monuments. Over time, hard water, bird droppings, mold, dirt and acid rain can damage a gravestone or monument. These elements will cause stones to weaken and begin to chip or stain.
